[NEWS] 161017 Red Velvet’s Irene and Joy get warm for ‘High Cut’

Red Velvet’s Joy and Irene put on fall fashion for ‘High Cut’.

The girls put on the street casual brand ’Jack and Jill’, wearing long coats, stadium jumpers, and other warmer items for the cold weather. During the interview, Irene talked about ’Russian Roulette’, saying, “We were so happy on stage because so many people liked it. We had our first fanmeeting recently and we got closer to fans, and it feels like something that’s just ours was made.”

On Seulgi, Irene said, “When Seulgi’s throat was at its worst, she couldn’t even call me 'unnie’. There were so many hard times where we held each other and cried, but we’re doing so well now that I feel good. Seulgi originally had a fear of stages, so I’m so proud that she was able to sing by herself on stage [on ’Masked Singer’]. I feel like my children are all grown up.”

Joy said, “I think I’m losing weight a lot more than when I was in high school. When I was in high school, even if I tried to diet by not eating, my face was always big. Now, I exercise continuously, and instead of not eating, I eat what I want but only eat a certain amount. I think I’m beginning to get my know-hows.” She also revealed that she wanted to try her hand at composing, saying, “Red Velvet has put on a lot of bright stages, and a lot of moody ones, but I think we haven’t put on captivating stages such as ’Be Natural’. I want to make a song to follow up 'Be Natural’.”

“I feel like I lose weight more easily now compare to when I was a high schooler. My face used to feel bloated even when I wasn’t eating to lose weight. Now, I exercise regularly and limit myself to a reasonably satisfying portion of food rather than restricting myself from eating entirely. I’m finding my know-hows little by little.”

If Joy could challenge composing a song in the future “Red Velvet has provided bright songs and shown many stages with that sort of feeling but I think we haven’t shown much stages with an alluring charm like Be Natural. I want to try making a song like Be Natural.”

About member Seulgi recently appearing on MBC’s King of Masked Singer and spilling tears confessing her vocal problems during trainee days, Irene respondend, “When Seulgi’s throat wasn’t in good condition she couldn’t even say/call me ‘Unnie’. There are a lot of times where Seulgi and I held each other and cried during difficult times but because [we’re] doing well, I feel happy. Seulgi’s stage fright was quite severe but I’m so proud with her singing on stage alone. Our/my kids are all grown up now.”
